Basic question

Adrian, Mick et al! I have been diagnosed after my biopsy with cancer, 3+4=7, on both sides so no Hifu treatment etc. Which conversation should I look at ( I find the site a bit difficult) to see who had prostate removed - as my surgeon wants - who had radiography and who decided simply to monitor the PSA and have an MRI scan every year etc? Thank you.

Hello again, mate.

This video is excellent it gives all treatment options and the possible side effects. It's well worth viewing 👌

Really useful, thank you so much! I know what I want to try! Just the monitoring. Will get a second opinion from a second urologist. Thank you.

Bichon

Your questions were great and nearly identical to my own.

Thanks also for replies. The video was especially helpful.

Good luck Jeff. Choose the general anaesthetic. When you wake up slight discomfort in the perineum area - between scrotum and anus to me!- gone in two hours before they released me. Don’t drink too much water when you wake up as they released you only after you’ve peed and measured what’s left in your bladder ( hand held scan). I misunderstood and thought I had to drink for England but they meant once home! I had to pee some 6 times before my bladder was finally empty.
Peeing will be a bit hesitant first few days and then back to normal after a week for me.
Blood in urine gone after two days but in semen still impressively there after 9 days, maybe I ejaculated too much ( 5 times) to try and get rid of the blood there; bright red at first, brownish now which the boys on this forum say is normal and means it is now old blood and healing.
Absolutely no real pain, don’t sit on hard surfaces or on bike for first week though as perineum is bruised and black and blue!

Thats me on my 11th day.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that it is all negative!

Ah Bichon, I did chuckle at the drinking too much water, laughing with you, not at you ;-) of course.

I had local anaesthetic, the risks are substantially lower. In fact a general anaesthetic wasn't discussed (uk) as an option.

Clearly laying down with feet in stirrups, half naked and the "crown jewels" briefly on display, before a  modesty cloth covering put in place, is going to be a bit embarrassing. The nurses and radiologist have seen hundreds of men, maybe thousands, in that position. It's not a big deal.

But overall, it was a trivial procedure for me and I was dressed and ready to leave 16 minutes later, anf a pee happened pretty soon afterwards.

The power of the diagnostic information the biopsy will yield is a thousand percent worth it.

Jeff, you are braver than me, I was really happy to be totally out of it! I can imagine the embarrassment, the nurse told me they had to tape up my Crown Jewels to clear the space!
I am happy to have chosen AS, it is right for me, my life style and my general future expectations after a quadruple heart bypass. I am sanguine and, for the moment, I would rather have an hoped for 7 or so years of a totally normal life with AS and then see later, given the chance.
